About Rendered News

What Rendered News Covers

Rendered News is an independent website about game graphics and game engines from the software side. We explain how modern games draw their worlds: ray tracing and path tracing, Nanite and Lumen, upscaling technologies such as DLSS, FSR and XeSS, frame generation, HDR and anti-aliasing. We break down what the options in a graphics menu actually do, look at how engines like Unreal, Unity, Godot and studios’ own in-house technology work, and explain how games are made, with practical guides for people who want to start making games themselves.

We are not a hardware site. You will not find graphics card buying guides, benchmark charts or product reviews here. We write evergreen explainers meant to stay useful, and when something depends on a specific engine version, SDK release or date, we say so.

Our Categories

  • Rendering Explained – how real-time graphics work: rasterization, shaders, lighting, global illumination, ray tracing, path tracing and graphics APIs.
  • Upscaling & Performance – DLSS, FSR, XeSS, frame generation, render resolution, latency, frame pacing and stutter, explained from the software side.
  • Graphics Settings – what each common setting changes on screen, from shadows and ambient occlusion to HDR, V-Sync and presets.
  • Game Engines – Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot and proprietary engines: features, history, scripting and licensing.
  • Making Games – how games are produced, who does what on a team, and beginner guides to building your first game.

Who Writes Here

Articles on Rendered News are published under the name Elliot Varga. This is a pen name used by a small independent editorial team, and we say so openly. We do not claim to be graphics engineers, studio developers or industry insiders. What we commit to is careful research, clear writing and linking to the sources we rely on, such as official engine documentation, vendor developer pages and conference talks, so you can check our work yourself.

How We Work

Every article is researched against primary sources wherever possible: engine documentation and release notes, graphics vendors’ developer sites, API specifications and technical presentations from conferences such as GDC and SIGGRAPH. AI tools help with drafting, and every piece is fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published. You can read more in our editorial policy.

Independence

Rendered News is not affiliated with Epic Games, Unity Technologies, the Godot Foundation, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Valve or any game developer or publisher. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as “Sponsored”.
